Except Ramon Laureano is a speedy CF who makes the league minimum and is already on Oakland’s roster. I’m not sure Duran is MLB ready but even if he is, you’ve got to move two of Laureano/Piscotty/Canha (either to the bench or off the roster) to create a spot.
Maybe, especially since Puk looks like he’ll be out. But in this off-season where every team passes on Brad Hand at $10 mill, Manaea at $6 mill might be a non-tender candidate.
Boston get much needed SP. Oakland gets a (very) speedy CF who makes the league minimum while shedding Manaea’s salary which could be from $4.5-6mill.

Think of Duran as a potential upgrade over Grossman. Or he still has options left and the A’s save $4-6 million.
Probably not an upgrade in 2021. Meanwhile, you’ve opened a hole in the rotation for a team Zips is projecting as a mid-80s win team as is.
