Arenado IS leaving the Rockies, the relationship has broken down. Dodgers are one of the few team that can absorb his contract. Give the Rockies a 3B with huge upside and one of their best prospects in Keibert Ruiz who is surplus after the emergence of Will Smith.

good trade overall, but I highly doubt that the Rockies would pay down more than ~30 mil or so.

Agreed that it’s a big check for COL to cut. Take Ruiz out of the deal and move the money to ~$40M and it’s probably more plausible.

I could see them paying part of it down a little if the dodgers threw in Gonsolin, I feel like these playoffs made him expendable and the Rockies have nothing to lose on snagging him if the dodgers aren’t trading without some salary being paid. Low risk high upside for whatever cash they give to the dodgers, at worst he’s the bottom of rotation.
