I don’t see the small market Indians trading a young controllable starting pitcher like Zack Plesac. I also don’t see the Padres wanting Margot back or trading Grisham.
Yeah, I wasn’t sure if the Padres would want Margot back. He’s obviously meant to be a replacement for Grisham. The Rays could part with KK instead, but not at a -9.7 valuation. From the Padres’ perspective, this trade hinges on whether they want to add pitching or not. I think they probably do, and with the way Snell pitched the Dodgers, the Padres have to be interested.
As for the Indians, if they want bats, they may have to part with pitching. Lindor alone may not yield the return they want/need. Grisham fills their CF void and is himself a young controllable bat. Plus, they get a young controllable pitcher in Chirinos with 3 years of control after 2021 (he’s recovering from TJS right now), who may have untapped potential.
