Was trying to think of a package that fits both teams windows and we know they love to trade with each other. Padres are more or less consolidating talent and Hader gives them a big time closer to help stabilize the backend of the pen. Brewers get two mlb ready arms that can contribute now and fits the stay relevant extend the window build and a lotto ticket in Ornelas who has big upside but isn’t clicking yet. Nottingham I now realize is out of options so not as useful for the Padres but the idea is that he can be a 3rd 4th catching options since he is made obsolete by the Brewer’s 343 options at catcher.

Hard to gauge Hader’s trade value seems a tad low on the site but at the same time reliever I think the Padres would be more likely to say no to this trade package. I think savvy teams would agree with the 14-17 value but the Brewers probably need to hope a more old school front office or a desperate one throws their hat into the ring and over pays.

When the Brewers trade Hader they wil be looking for offense, not questionable pitchers and a struggling young OF. Morejon is clearly not ready for the big leagues based on what he’s done so far. More hits than IPs, 6.26 ERA, allowed 8 HRs in only 27 IPs. He needs AAA ball to prove he may some day be a major leaguer. Baez also has severe control problems that will not play well in a hitters park like Milwaukee. He too needs minor lg. time to solve his control issues.
Ornelas hasn’t shown anything so far to make the Brewers interested.
