Thanks for posting this real-life trade (you’re fast on the Twitter-finger!).

Ground ball specialist for Chappy, I’m not sure he is worth Neuse and Varland. Not thrilled with that trade as an A’s fan.

This is OK in my opinion. Varland is coming off TJS and another laundry list of injuries and I don’t mind one less of that in our system. The management clearly does not believe in Neuse anymore, because he didn’t get a single plate appearance last year despite injuries to Chapman and Pinder that left no one at Neuse’s natural position of 3B (we instead signed Jake Lamb and added Nate Orf to the 40 man when Neuse was already there).
With Diekman likely the full time closer, another lefty fireman doesn’t hurt and Kolarek has a better track record than the other guy we traded for. I don’t really care about Thomas, he is org filler.

As LAD fan, I have to wonder if there’s a future LRP or Swing LSP upgrade, trade or FA, behind this deal. (Brault, Hill , Etc)

Don’t the Dodgers still have Scott Alexander and Victor Gonzalez for lefty relievers? And with the Bauer signing, they could potentially move Urias into a swingman/fill in for injury role.
