this would be a offseason trade

and I have a few points to make

first point Riley have been better this year and is under control for 5 seasons

lets talk about the propects for a second waters + cruz + davidson is a outstanding return and riley

some with that propect return plus riley that is too good for CLE to pass up if they are not looking to contend in 2022

some people like a fellow user Hockey john talks about this meaning they are rebuilding well they already traded lindor they are not ready to win just yet and the owners don’t help but if they are building for the future the control of riley plus the propects I am sorry but that is way to good to pass up

others such as users like Hockey john again says this canceling out and 2022 well fun fact the team that they have as we speak is 80-85 win team at best and though 2022 that will also be the case will they be 5 games worse next year but that does not matter when you are not making the playoffs so why not build for the future with this trade and if they are not good regardless. some people think this is wasting bieber how are you wasting Bieber if you are building for 2023 and beyond it is not like shane is 30 he is 25 so him at 27 in 2023 is not wasting him it is building around him in the long run so choose if you were CLE not make playoffs anyway or be a few games worse and be way better in the long run with this new core and contend in 2023 and beyond
or they could go the dumb route and pass not make playoffs Ramirez walks and they suck or build for the long and contend in future years

    thoughts ?

Take out the reliever and the mid/low tier starter.. add one of the Braves catching prospects.. and this is a serious and good offer if not a slight overpay..

Cleveland probably closer to contending than the Braves. This move sets the Braves back years.

      • Lamar Gibson

Sure, let’s just forget the last 3 years of division titles and last years NLCS because they are at .500, and 2.5 games behind first. Trade everyone. Might as well trade Acuna too because this team sucks now.

Cleveland would say yes to this. Braves would say no. Simple as that.

        • Tim Estadt

Nationals won the WS two years ago. They contenders too? Last year was last year.

          • Lamar Gibson

They were also a very different team. Their two top performers in the playoffs aren’t there. Anthony Rendon is gone, and Strasburg is struggling to stay healthy. They also lost a good chunk of that starting lineup plus their additions haven’t met their standards. The Braves are basically the same team from last year, minus Marcell, D’ardund, and Melancon.

        • Tim Estadt

So you can forget about being 500 now. Or being 2.5 back. Or even about being in second place.

          • Lamar Gibson

They are streaky, that’s for sure. They also are allergic to over .500. I’m at the point where I’m begging them to get a bat and some pen help.

Minus Ozuna who was probably the most valuable player on the team. Minus Soroka. Minus a 1B who lit the league on fire last year. Pretty impressive they are 500 and a good thing they play in the worst division in baseball.

    • Lamar Gibson

They didn’t have Soroka long last year. Their only good starter for a while was Fried until Anderson was called up. Also if you take a look at Freddie’s advanced stats, you’ll find he is actually just been very unlucky this season, which can’t last forever. I will agree that with all the bad things happening to them this season, it is very impressive that they are 1 under .500, but expect them to start to majorly turn things around when Freddie loses the unluckiness.

      • Tim Estadt

Pitching has been terrible. Not sure if just one bullpen piece is enough of a solution.

        • Lamar Gibson

They only lost one guy from last year, Melancon, and he was the closer. Other than that it’s the same exact bullpen. Starting is fine except for Smyly. He sucks. Morton is good when he’s on but is horrible when he’s off. Fried had a rough start but is putting it back together. Ian Anderson is amazing. Tucker Davidson is doing good, just don’t know how long he can keep it up.

          • Tim Estadt

Minter had an unreal year. Many other guys over performed also. It’s was a short season. Guys didn’t need to have pond sustained success. It was a great run at the perfect tome last year. Was Morton given 15 mil to be good sometimes? He hasn’t lived up to what they signed him to be. I really like Fried. Hope he gets an extension ASAP.
