Another Ray-esque trade for the Jays. The Cubs have pivoted towards selling and their bullpen is ripe for the picking. Brothers lies outside of the Kimbrel-Chafin-Tepera three-headed dragon but has a K/9 that nearly matches Kimbrel’s. His issue is walks, and with the success the Jays had with Ray, gambling on similar success with Brothers might be worth it. But if want to see a real project, check out Burl Carraway. If the Jays can work out his control issues, they have a top tier closer on their hands.

The Cubs get back Smith, who is killing AAA but has no spot in a loaded Jays infield. Adams is in a similar boat with at least 4 catchers ahead of him on the depth chart and performing well in the minors. If the Cubs chose to move any more of their major league talent, these two could easily fill in the holes and vie for a bigger role next year.
