I have to ask, is the difference between Marte’s 63.2 and Rocchio’s 25.3 values due to reports not being updated? We’re talking about eerily similar offensive players and performances here minus the fact that Rocchio is a superior defensive SS and a switch hitter.
Thanks John. I’d like to understand BA’s explanations. I’ll try to look into those a little deeper. Do you think it’s unreasonable to suggest what I did? They’re both 20 with Rocchio being less than a year older obviously, but Rocchio also split his season between A+ and AA while Marte split his season between A and A+. Their lines are almost identical. Marte slashed 273/366/459/825 with 17 HR, 28 2B, and 24 SB in 444 AB. Rocchio slashed 277/346/460/807 with 15 HR, 26 2B, and 21 SB in 441 AB. Rocchio is a GG caliber SS while Marte might not be able to stick there. I don’t want to be a homer, but I wouldn’t see any advantage of trading Rocchio straight up for Marte, especially if you needed a good defensive SS. Does that make sense?
Edited to say that Rocchio is a switch hitter also with no split issues.
This deal is essentially, Jose Ramirez for Noelvi Marte… The Guardians are stacked with MIF’ers.. this deal makes little sense..
I would suggest a Mariners/Reds deal…

There’s a big gap between them largely due to BA’s ratings of each. FG hasn’t updated its Cleveland list yet, but it’s unlikely to matter as much.

Sure, that’s fair. They’ll be chatting about their updated Mariners list in the coming week or two, so that may be a good opportunity to ask.
Will do, thanks!
