👎 for the Red Sox. Would love to get Bell, switch hitting 1B, as a rental. But not for Groome, and I doubt Bloom will part with him. Groome is really starting to put things together here in Portland and I think he will be a fast riser going forward, he’s looking sharp, hungry & competitive. He might even get a cup of coffee come September (or did they change those rules, I forget).

We have the most prospects we have had in years. I’d argue we could get away with an even lower prospect considering we gave up #19 for Schwarber last year. Dalbec has been absolutely awful at first this year and Bell offers more versatility to the lineup being a switch hitter who also plays comparable if not better defense. Groome is also a much older prospect than the norm and his injury history has me suspicious. Bell could also be an even better mentor for Casas than Dalbec could ever be. If I’m Bloom I’m 100% pulling the trigger on this trade.

No way Nationals do this. Groome is not putting things together. He is still not that good of a prospect vs a productive hitter like Bell; it’s a rip off.

Two points…..one, how many options does Groome still have? Drafted in 2016, and I think added to 40 man in in winter 2020, he may soon need to stay in majors or have to go through wavers.

I think the Red Sox are more likely to spend prospect capital on pitchers.
