  1. If Cleveland were to trade Brad Hand this season, which I don’t think that they will, they will want pieces that can help them in 2019 and in 2020. None of the pieces above fit that profile. The PCL is a hitters league and Fowler is only batting .264. No way Cleveland would do this deal.

      I generally agree, although they do get the salary relief of dumping Kipnis, which is a big factor here, and which they’ve used as motivation before. But yeah, if they decide to sell, they’ll want to optimize for quality over quantity with a trade piece like Hand.

        I’m not sure Kipnis is much of a factor here. He’s off the books after this season anyway, and if Cleveland is trading Hand it means they aren’t contending this season and don’t need the extra budget room. I agree that they’ll want to maximize their return for Hand, not weigh it down with a salary dump.
