I know Plesac isn’t that exciting, but he fills a need for the Mets, giving them a MLB ready #5 starter or long relief man. Vientos is a right handed bat that can relieve Ramirez at times and also can play first base. He hits lefties very well, so could platoon and fill in as needed for the Guardians. Not an earth shaking trade but one that helps both teams.

I like it, but I can understand why the Mets’ fans wouldn’t. I don’t think Plesac goes to a contender at this time. If Cleveland holds onto him through the beginning of the season and he pitches well then that perception could change.

Yes, the Mets could probably do better than Plesac. I do like Vientos. I think he could fulfill a few needs. I saw your latest trade, Civale and Karinchak to the Mets, which crossed my mind as well. I think the Mets would take that deal. I was thinking though of asking for Vientos and Parada. Parada is a ways away, but a potential future all-star. In my mind Civale and Karinchak are replaceable. Pitching (and MIF’ers) are Cleveland’s surplus so might as well trade those for areas lacking within the organization.

I’m not overly comfortable or excited about trading Karinchak, and if it were to happen they need to get a piece that fits in now. Nido’s value here isn’t much, but I think he would be a good fit in Cleveland right now. Much better than Gallagher for instance. Parada is a good prospect, but I doubt the Mets would part with him in a deal like this, but I could be mistaken.
