    Kyle Seager and the Mariners agree to a restructured 2022 option, paying Seager something north of the buyout to waive his player option or some variant on that which removes the disincentive they currently have to trading him.

    The $22M figure is just to balance the trade in this system, the restructuring will change Seager’s trade value. The actual figure would be lower.

    He takes over third base for the Cardinals and Matt Carpenter becomes the primary DH.
