Rays already have enough upper minors pitching to transition to the big league club in the next 2 years. No need for Gray. Even if that wasn’t an issue, Gray doesn’t appear to have the upside that would excite the Rays in a trade for Snell.

Hoese might be a good player for the Rays to acquire, but he’s a luxury more than anything. Rays have a lot of infield prospects about to get their promotions, including Taylor Walls, Vidal Brujan and Wander Franco. How that all shakes out with the current big leaguers is anyone’s guess. My guess – They don’t sacrifice the present to add Hoese.

So that leaves us with Ruiz as a real target for the Rays. However, Cartaya would be a much better add than Ruiz long term. He costs less too. 😉 My proposal – KK and Nick Anderson for Cartaya and De Jesus.

I agree that the challenging part aside from identifying which catcher woudl best fit for the rays was prospects that fit what they need because they already have some really talented pitching and hitting prospects. I thought that they tend to prioritize players they have control over at a cost effective rate so i stuck with guys i felt could fit that model. I honestly dont know that much about cartaya and he may fit them better than ruiz. I also wanted to work out snell to the dodgers because i figure they could use another ace level pitcher and have an overabundance of catching prospects. I included wendle because he has some positional flexibility and may help replace hernandez in the infield at least. Thank you for your insight and i appreciate your feedback!
